CEDAC hosts an International Exchange visit from GRET Myanmar
From 5 to 7 March 2014, CEDAC is hosting a study tour for 23 people including 6 women who are farmers and NGO staff members from GRET Myanmar. The main objectives of the visit are to learn and connect experiences of how Cambodian farmers can organize themselves for different agriculture services and to increase awareness and motivation on what we can do on the ground. During the visit, CEDAC President, Dr. Yang Saing Koma presented an overview of CEDAC’s support to small farmers in Cambodia, followed with many other presentations by CEDAC staff members including the presentation on Farmer Association (FA), Saving and Credit Cooperative, Farmer and Nature Net, and Linking farmer to market, especially organic rice producer group.Moreover, the participants visited the farmer associations and farmer producers groups in Kampot and Takeo provinces. During the visits, CEDAC staff and affiliated farmers shared their innovations, including saving and credit cooperative, Women group saving and Community Rice Mill Machine (RMC).As a result, all participants gained a better understanding and many new experiences and knowledge which they committed to bring back to implement in Myanmar. Moreover, they expressed their interest and desire to continue working with CEDAC in future learning exchanges with both farmers and staff members from the two countries.
