CEDAC Organic Rice Cooperatives Renew Organic and Fair Trade Certification
Since February 2013, the international certification body BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH has conducted inspections at CEDAC organic rice cooperatives in Takeo, Kampong Speu and Kampong Chhnang province, of which 287 farmer households are members.

During the inspection, these external inspectors also visited CEADC organic rice warehouse at Kob Plouk village, Sangkat Pleung Ches Rotes, Khan Por Sen Chey, Phnom Penh, as well as two rice mills contracting by CEDAC organic rice cooperatives.
 
After finishing inspections for export markets, rice production on 288,50 ha and 968 tons of organic paddy were certified as fully organic while 145ha and 428 tons of paddy was certified as “organic in transition.” As our application for organic certificate of NOP USDA and EU standards, and Fair Trade Sustainability Alliance (FairTSA); BCS certified rice production for 2012-2013 of 406.50 tons of rice for EU market and 380.50 tons of rice for USA market.
 
These organic rice cooperatives have produced fragrant rice varieties included Phka Malis and Phka Romdul and have received this certification since 2008.
