Between September 5th and 7th, 2012, CEDAC’s Local Development Program (LDP) organized the quarterly reflection meeting of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) core team, which took place at CEDAC/Catholic Relief Services (CRS) field office in Kampot provincial town. A total of 13 participants, including one woman, attended this important meeting. The meeting’s objectives were to share updates regarding the following topics: project progress, project management, database management, experiences, cooperation, possible solutions to new challenges, and methods that build self-reliant development.

The team spent a full day conducting a field monitoring visit to the target areas of two projects: Happy Mountain Bird: Ensuring Access to Primary Education for Children of Poorest Families (HMB-IV) in Kampong Speu’s Kong Pisey District and Learning and Adapting for Food Security (LEAFS) in Kampot’s Teuk Chhu District. Another day and a half was spent conducting a joint meeting at CEDAC/CRS field office. Additionally, Dr. Yang Saing Koma, President of CEDAC, was invited to serve as chairman for the half-day meeting on 7th September.

During the meeting, the team focused primarily on clarifying the details of the target areas, including the exact number of provinces, districts, communes and villages, and the respective technical and social innovations being implemented by LDP. Additionally, we considered the best way to consolidate and share this information with Farmer and Nature Net (FNN). While there remain several areas in which communication of information is inadequate, all team members renewed their commitment to prioritize data collection and management. In his address, Dr. Yang Saing Koma discussed project progress report deadlines, cash flow management, strategies for monitoring farmers’ progress and methods that build the self-reliant development.
